8827 Lone Tree Parkway, Lone Tree, CO 80124

Centennial Airport has published its Draft Noise Exposure Map (NEM) package, which is one component of the 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study. The document is available for public review and comment through November 30, 2025, at the following locations:

  • Online at https://apa150noisestudy.com/documents/
  • Centennial Airport Administration Office – Front Desk (7565 South Peoria Street, Englewood, CO 80112) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Lone Tree Branch of the Douglas County Libraries (10055 Library Way, Lone Tree, CO 80124)
Written comments can be submitted online at https://apa150noisestudy.com/contact/, in person at the public open house, or mailed to:
Centennial Airport Part 150 NEM Comments
c/o Colleen Bosold, Mead & Hunt
999 18th Street, Suite 2300S
Denver, CO 80202

In conjunction with this public review period, Centennial Airport will hold its third Part 150 Study public open house on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a brief presentation at 5:00 p.m., in the Main Hall at The Lone Tree Hub. The purpose of the meeting is to share and collect feedback on the NEM package before its submittal to the FAA for acceptance. The NEM package includes the final, FAA-approved forecasts of aviation activity; draft Noise Exposure Maps; the results of the land use analysis; and flight tracks. The meeting will cover these topics as well as preliminary alternatives. Anyone interested can stop by at their convenience between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. to view display boards with Study information, speak one-on-one with members of the Study Team and Airport staff, and share their ideas, comments, and questions with the Study Team.

The Study is being conducted to identify and evaluate current and future noise and land use compatibility associated with aircraft operations at Centennial Airport. The goal of the Study is to work with surrounding communities and stakeholders to reduce the number of people affected by aircraft noise. Future meetings will focus on the Noise Compatibility Program.

KAPA Monthly Fuel Flowage & Ops Data, 2012 through August 2025

10/11/2025

Key Takeaways, KAPA monthly fuel volumes through August 2025:
  1. DEFINITIONS: ‘AvGas’ is the fuel used for most prop planes, and has two types: ‘LL’ = low-lead, ‘UL’ = unleaded. 'Running-Sum’ adds the most recent 12-months.
    • ’Fuel Flowage’ includes both ‘sales’ (to outsiders, buying the fuel) and ‘non-sales’ (to in-fleet planes, such as for FBO aircraft used for rental or flight training).
    • 'ATADS’ is FAA’s definitive air traffic count program, recorded by ATC; ‘OPS’ = ops per month; ‘ITIN’ = itinerant (non-local) flights; ‘LCL’ = local (mostly closed pattern) flights.
  2. 1-Year Change, 12-month running-sum ATADS: TOTAL OPS down 10%; ITIN OPS down 3%, LOCAL OPS down 17%.
  3. 1-Year Change, 12-month running-sum fuel volumes through August 2025: jetfuel was down 2%; AvGas (100LL plus 94UL, for small prop planes) was down 2%.
  4. Seasonality: AvGas volume tends to be heaviest in August, lightest in January; jet fuel volume tends to be heaviest in summer/fall, slowest in winter/spring.
  5. Colorscales: Red-Blue (red higher, blue lower), Orange-Green (orange higher, green lower).
  6. COVID IMPACT: AvGas was virtually unchanged, but jetfuel saw reductions averaging 15%. Pent-up flight demand caused a surge-recovery Spring 2021 through Fall 2022.
  7. Jetfuel volume through August 2025 is 0.5% higher than the pre-COVID total through February 2020; for the same timeframe, AvGas volume is up 11.6%.
  8. Unleaded fuel volume: sales of Swift 94UL fuel were begun in May 2023, but the airport authority has not yet arranged sales of GAMI100UL fuel.
  9. 94UL volume peaked at 25% of all AvGas in January and November 2024, and has since declined to roughly 14% of all AvGas in August 2025.
  10. How much lead (Pb) pollution? There is one pound of lead in each 214 gallons of 100LL. So, in the year ending August 2025, fuel volume included 2,770 pounds of lead. Trending upward.
  11. Lead pollutants peaked at 3,152 pounds/year in May 2022; as of August 2025, 94UL sales have achieved a 12% net reduction of lead, to 2,770 pounds/year.
  12. Note that the three primary airport revenue sources are fuel flowage fees, usage fees (for landing, overnight parking, etc.), and leases (hangars and/or ground space).
    1. As set by the airport authority, fuel flowage fees are 10cts/gal AvGas and 15cts/gal jetfuel; most aircraft pay zero landing fees.
